Frequently Asked Questions

How can I make a booking?

You can make the booking directly at hotellinx.com.

Price per igloo is the same for one or two adults (beds are huge so there is room for 1 child but unfortunately no extra bed). Breakfast is always included for bookings through hotellinx.com unless the rate clearly mentions no breakfast included (for example special summer promotion without breakfast).

Are there any activities nearby?

We encourage you to book your activities beforehand and there are two fantastic options nearby:

  • Lammintupa is just a 10-minute walk from us
  • Ruka Adventures is only a 10-minute drive away
  • In additions to the guided activities you can do snowshoeing at Magical Pond woods free of charge or rent fatbikes 20€ per person per hour. We also have a private sauna 47€ per person including snacks or 2 hours of private sauna and outdoor jacuzzi for 275€ including snacks for two. More information and reservations from the reception when you check in.

Do I need to book a table for dinner?

We have 3 course set menu dinner available at out Katajakota Hut restaurant for 79€ per person. The set menu needs to be booked at least 2 days in advance but our lounge serves snacks and bites without reservation. Please contact reception@magicalpond.com for more information and bookings.

How can I get there?

We are located in Northern Finland and the nearest airport is called Kuusamo. You can book flights from from Helsinki via Finnair.com but there are also many direct flights from Europe available.

If you’re arriving by air, we recommend booking your taxi beforehand. You can reach a reliable taxi service Rukan taksipalvelu here or by sending email to info@rukataksi.fi. Please note that the taxi needs to be booked at least 24 hours before arrival so for any urgent enquiries it is best to call them +358 6000 4141. The price from Kuusamo airport is approximately 85€.

Rovaniemi is approximately 2,5 hours away and there are currently no busses available so it is best to rent a car or take a taxi (we recommend always confirming the rate beforehand). Please contact reception@magicalpond.com for more information.

When can I see the Northern Lights?

The best time to visit the northern parts of Finland to catch a glimpse of the auroras is between August and April. There are many great apps for predicting the Northern Lights such as the “My Aurora Forecast” that is also free of charge to use. Remember to keep your phone at night mode when taking pictures of the Northern lights. Hope you will get to see the magic! ✨️💚
